Conduct and Accountability

The following policies apply to all Mnemos events. Mnemos live-action roleplaying (LARP) events are designed to provide entertainment for all players through immersion in the game’s setting. To achieve that end Mnemos Staff believes in promoting and maintaining an atmosphere of trust.

If you have questions or need clarification on any of the following policies, please contact Mnemos Staff.

INCLUSIVITY

We at Mnemos want to make an earnest and upfront statement that we support everyone and all ways of life. If what you are doing is not harming another person we are on your side.

We strive to make our game a safe space for all people of all backgrounds.

THE SPIRIT VS. THE LETTER

We expect our players to operate within the spirit of these policies rather than the letter. We are not interested in attempts to skirt the lines of the regulations we have posted or in attempts to “rules lawyer” around incidents. We are all here to have fun, and people who wish to harass others or act as “broken stairs” in this community will not be tolerated.

AGE

MINIMUM AGE:

  • Players must be 13 years old to participate fully in all aspects of Mnemos LARP, including fight scenarios.

  • No players under the age of 13 will be allowed at Mnemos events.

AGE AND CHARACTER CREATION:

  • Players may not create characters below the age of 18 unless they are actually younger than the age of 18 out-of-character (OOC).

HARASSMENT

At NO point will hatred or harassment toward another person be allowed at our game. If we find you to be demonstrating this type of behavior within this community we will consult with the affected party and, depending on their feelings and the outcome of our investigation, will handle the problem immediately.

If you are found to be causing player(s) to feel unsafe we will remove you from our community. Affected players will NEVER be outed without their explicit consent, not to the offender nor to the community. A statement will be made that a player is being removed for “X” offense with no further explanation to the public. We request that, for the sake of the affected players, you respect these terms.

Mnemos has zero tolerance for Harassment of any individual due to:

  • Age

  • Sex

  • Gender

  • Religion

  • Race

  • Sexual orientation

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Misgendering a player after being repeatedly corrected

  • Refusing to acknowledge someone’s identity

  • Unwanted sexual advances, inappropriate touching, and repeatedly violating personal space - including blurring the lines of consent

  • Harassment involving out-of-character (OOC) religion

  • Harassment involving out-of-character (OOC) race or background

  • Out-of-character (OOC) threats, bullying, abusive name-calling, and intimidation

  • Excessive out-of-character (OOC) rudeness.

If a situation arises that requires staff adjudication but doesn’t fall under any of the categories above, Mnemos staff will review all information provided and proceed in good faith on behalf of all parties.

REPORTING A PROBLEM

If you’ve experienced a situation that has made you feel uncomfortable or harassed we ask you to first assume a level of good faith in your fellow player. If the situation allows it, please make a first attempt to express yourself and your concerns to the other player directly. If you are uncomfortable with doing so for any reason, you are welcome to approach any member of Mnemos staff for assistance. There are times when players may not be aware of how their actions are being perceived by others, and we ask that you give other players the same courtesy you would like to be shown to you.

If the situation is more dire, or if this is a repeated problem, we ask that you approach or write Mnemos staff to log the incident. You may also contact Mnemos Staff via our Incident Report Form. We will immediately begin an investigation and provide intervention based on the needs of the situation.

INCIDENT REPORT FORM

If you encounter an emergency, actual crime, or physical violence call 911 immediately and, if possible, please inform a member of Mnemos staff as quickly as you can.

BEING REPORTED

If someone has reported you for a violation of the event rules or harassment policy, please keep in mind that everyone is here to have fun and always presume good faith in the other player(s) and the process. If possible, take the situation as a learning experience and use it to make the most of your future enjoyment of the game. We understand that these situations can sometimes be tricky and that misunderstanding and misinterpretations occur, and we will always strive to do right by our players.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

Staff will review incidents to determine the degree of all rules violations. If the violation is minor, a Staff member will intercede politely and attempt to resolve the situation quickly and with as little interruption as possible. Please note: Staff will only intercede in this manner once. Further violations will be subject to greater disciplinary actions.

In the case of a second violation of similar kind, or if the incident is more severe, a member of the Staff will gather information from all parties and witnesses (if any) before making a final decision. Some cases may require one or more parties to leave the event, if the violation is severe enough.

If it is determined that disciplinary action must be taken, penalties may include (but are not limited to):

  • WARNING:
A Warning will be provided in the case of a first incident, if the incident is minor and not requiring more immediate action. Warnings are a one-time courtesy: players who receive a Warning will not receive a second Warning if subsequent violations are of similar nature to the first.

  • REMOVAL:
Player(s) may be Removed from an event at the discretion of Mnemos Staff, and must also leave the event site.

  • SUSPENSION:
Player(s) may be Suspended from Mnemos at the discretion of Mnemos Staff. Suspensions will be given a duration at the time they are implemented, and a final review will occur prior to lifting the Suspension. If the Suspension is determined to have been insufficient to amend the Player(s)’ behavior, it may either be extended or converted into a Permanent Ban.

  • BAN:
Player(s) may be Banned from Mnemos at the discretion of Mnemos Staff. A Ban may be appealed after six (6) months, at which time it will be reviewed and any new supporting material will be presented for consideration.

  • PERMANENT BAN:

Player(s) may be Permanently Banned from Mnemos at the discretion of Mnemos Staff.

PARTICIPATION

The staff of Mnemos reserves the right to remove, block, or deny entry to any participant at any time for any reason. This decision will never be made lightly. We will always use our best judgment and do our best to apply this right with fairness and great consideration.
